Severance is about to return on Apple TV+, and we couldn't be more excited. The first season of the mind-bending sci-fi show was slick, funny, and thought-provoking. The team has been working on the second for three years at this point. That's a long time to wait, but hopefully they'll come through with 10 great new episodes to enjoy.
Severance is about a group of workers who toil in the basement of a mysterious company called Lumon Industries. They've been "severed," meaning they don't remember anything about their home life when they're at the office and vice versa. Essentially, their work selves — or "innies" in the parlance of the show — are entirely new people. What happens when the innies don't like the way their outies are treating them?
A lot of crazy stuff, that's what! Here's the complete release schedule for all 10 new episodes of Severance season 2. All the new episodes will drop on Fridays at 12:00 midnight EST:
- Severance Episode 201: January 17, 2025 at 12:00 midnight EST
- Severance Episode 202: January 24
- Severance Episode 203: January 31
- Severance Episode 204: February 7
- Severance Episode 205: February 14
- Severance Episode 206: February 21
- Severance Episode 207: February 28
- Severance Episode 208: March 7
- Severance Episode 209: March 14
- Severance Episode 210: March 21
At a time when prestige genre shows are cutting down their episode counts — the second season of House of the Dragon only had eight episodes versus 10 in the first season, for example — it's good to see that Severance is coming through with a full suite of episodes. Ten still isn't a ton of episodes, but we can count on them to be good and meaty.
And although not everyone agrees, I'm glad that Apple TV+ will be releasing the episodes at a rate of one per week rather than dropping them in chunks or even all at once, which happens with a lot of shows on streaming services like Netflix. I like sitting with each episode for a bit and chatting with other fans before the next one arrives. It gives people time to savor and theorize.
