By the end of Silo season 3, any trust between Silo 18 and the Algorithm, or more accurately the people sitting in Silo 1 operating it, has completely collapsed. The finale ended with Juliette quietly declaring war, telling her crew that their real plan is to take out Silo 1 and in doing so save their silo and every other one under its control. That's the mission going into season 4.
The episode also saw the last head of IT, Camille Sims, play the Algorithm to buy Knox and Shirley enough time to cap the pipe and block the Safeguard. She told Victor she was sending Raiders into the mines to stop the rebellion, but they were actually just carrying oxygen tanks. By the time Victor understood what had happened, the pipe was capped and Silo 18 was safe. Shaken by the failure and his final conversation with Camille, he went into his office and shot himself.
So now Juliette and company know for certain that Silo 1 has been manipulating them and nearly wiped them out. Which raises the obvious question going into season 4: will Silo 18 even have a next head of IT? And if so, who would the Algorithm, now effectively Daniel running things from Silo 1, actually choose?
The season 4 teaser points at Robert Sims
With Victor dead, Daniel was woken from cryo per Victor's last order. Daniel is now, functionally, the Algorithm and he is the one Silo 1 is going to rely on to manage what is left of their control over Silo 18.
The problem is that Silo 18's IT department has no loyal head anymore. Camille is not going back to that side. And Juliette's people know the full picture now. Silo 1 needs someone on the ground inside Silo 18 who is still willing to work with them.
The season 4 teaser, which dropped right alongside the finale, shows Robert Sims inside the IT vault communicating with the Algorithm. Anthony, his son, appears to be on the outside of that vault door.
I think what that image is telling us is that Daniel, or whoever is now speaking as the Algorithm, has made Sims a deal. Sims gets the head of IT role he has previously been chasing since he shadowed Bernard back in season 2. The Algorithm shut him out then, choosing Camille over him, which had to sting. Now Camille has flipped and Sims may be, in Silo 1's eyes, the only person left with the institutional knowledge to take the deal.
Robert Sims had been one of the standout characters of season 3, where he pulled off what might be the most elaborate long con in the show so far. He orchestrated Bernard's fake death by the incinerator, then moved him beyond the digger void with Martha Walker's help to keep him hidden. He had the memory suppression drugs meant for Juliette swapped out for sugar through Nurse Amy.
And on top of all that, he secretly pushed the agenda that Juliette should be mayor silo-wide, which made her functionally untouchable. All of this while keeping Camille in check and maintaining his cover as a loyal arm of the system. It was a lot of plates to spin at once, and he never dropped one.
So, Anthony being on the outside of that door in the teaser could mean the Algorithm is using him as leverage, or it could be part of the terms Sims agreed to. But why would Sims take the deal in the first place?
I suppose we will find out when Silo season 4 premieres July 9, 2027 on Apple TV+.
