Apple TV’s Silo registered its biggest finale yet with the conclusion of season 3, and the actors and fans alike have a lot to say about the shocking twists. From the start, it was clear that Silo season 3 would toggle between past and present, spotlighting major events and characters who will eventually shape Juliette’s future. Congressman Daniel Keene is one of those key individuals who may have set the course for several events.
Ashley Zukerman plays Daniel Keene, a small-time congressman who gets tangled in end-of-the-world conspiracies and secret projects. All he wanted was to help his sister deal with the trauma of a failed mission, but he ends up discovering something far more obscure. In a recent interview, Zukerman revealed how he handled the Daniel-Troy transition and what fans can expect from Silo season 4.

The Daniel-Troy twist in season 3 finale was hands down the biggest shocker in the entire series. A man who fans were hailing as a hero of sorts turned out to be a part of the system. Although Daniel had no say in what happened to him after the blast, the shift was nonetheless difficult to comprehend for the audience.
As for Zukerman, he was equally shocked when he learned what his actual role was in the season finale. He told SYFY Wire that he read the first nine episodes and had the impression that he wasn’t going to be in the tenth until he read what he was being set up to do. He learned about Troy only a couple of weeks before and was surprised by the transition.
In episode 10, we learn that not only did Daniel survive, but his memories have been wiped. He is now called Troy, a “specialist” used to tackle rebellions and massacre thousands for the “good” of the Silo Project. Daniel has no idea about his past life except for the glimpses of tender moments with Helen he experiences every time he wakes up from cryo. Although fans may have mixed feelings about Daniel’s character right now, Silo season 4 will be instrumental in shaping his role in the final battle.
Zukerman loves that fan theories were wrong about Daniel
When asked about what he thought of all the wild fan theories circulating about his character’s fate, Zukerman expressed that he was genuinely satisfied and happy seeing how none of them turned out to be true. The reality of Daniel’s morphed personality and his hand in devastating Silo 17 residents hit the fans like a wrecking ball, especially book readers.
Speaking further about the books, the actor mentioned that he particularly refrains from getting too much into the source material. He said he finds it difficult for both worlds to coexist in his head despite knowing that he would have loved the books.
However, he believes Graham Yost has created a show that strikes a unique balance between creativity and being faithful to the source material. Though the series has taken a few radical approaches, it still manages to channel the books’ core themes and storyline. Zukerman thinks the only difference is in the way of executing Howey’s apocalyptic saga.
What to expect from season 4
When it comes to what to expect from Silo season 4, Zukerman assures fans they will get all the answers they are looking for. That said, he does also promise that the next chapter will be more “complicated” given how the show would need to tie up some of its greatest mysteries.
“Everything that you want to get answered, gets answered,” Zukerman stated. “It's so much more complicated than you could have imagined. It's a very profound season.”
