Since Game of Thrones ended in 2019, many of the show's stars have gone on to big things. Some stars, like Pedro Pascal (Oberyn Martell) and Jason Momoa (Khal Drogo), have gone onto become some of the biggest names in Hollywood. For Sophie Turner and Kit Harington, who played half-siblings in the HBO fantasy, they now find themselves returning to the screen as lovers in the upcoming historical horror film The Dreadful. And now, the official trailer is here!

Directed by Natasha Kermani, The Dreadful is set against the backdrop of the Wars of the Roses (which ironically, served as a big inspiration for Game of Thrones), the period in the 15th century wherein two rival houses fought for complete control of the English monarchy, and things got very bloody. The movie follows Anne (played by Turner), who lives a quiet life on the outskirts of society with her mother-in-law Morwen. However, when her estranged man from her past (played by Harington) returns from war, everything changes.

First look at Kit Harington and Sophie Turner in The Dreadful

The former Game of Thrones duo play lovers in The Dreadful, which makes for weird viewing in the first instance (it was equally odd for both Harington and Turner). Take a look at the official trailer above.

For director Natasha Kermani, bringing two of Game of Thones' biggest stars together was a special experience. Naturally, their chemistry was off-the-charts good. "Working with this cast was a joy from start to finish, and of course, to see Kit and Sophie back together onscreen was a special thrill," she told Entertainment Weekly. "Their friendship and chemistry is impossible to miss and one of my favorite aspects of the film."

The Dreadful arrives both in theatres and streaming on February 20.

Will we ever see Kit Harington and Sophie Turner together in the MCU?

As it happens, this may not be the last time we see Harington and Turner onscreen together either. Of course, both of them have appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe; Turner as Jean Grey in multiple X-Men movies, and Harington as Dane Whitman a.k.a. Black Knight in Eternals. Sure, their respective roles are quite small in comparison to others, and they're pretty far apart in the franchise. But this is Marvel; they love a good crossover.

While unlikely, if the opportunity presents itself, it's one that absolutely must be taken. Avengers: Doomsday debuts in December, bringing with it the promise of being the biggest crossover event ever, but it may come a little too soon for another Turner-Harington reunion.
