After much anticipation, Star Wars: Visions has finally dropped the official poster and release date for its upcoming third season. The anime anthology series, which is a creative batch of wildly different stories set in the Star Wars universe, is beloved for mixing in classic lore with some innovative storytelling and eye-catching animation.

The newly released poster showcases the main characters of this season’s various shorts, both new and returning faces, with very different art styles. Most of the episodes of the show feature brand new characters in brand new locations, which is what makes this one of the best additions to the franchise in recent times.

What to expect from Star Wars: Visions season 3

The third season of Star Wars: Visions, set to release on October 29, is shaping up to be even grander than before. All nine shorts drop on the same day, so you can binge them all you like. We’re even getting sequels to the iconic shorts “The Duel,” “The Village Bride,” and “The Ninth Jedi.”

“The Ninth Jedi” is even getting its very own spin-off series in 2026 called Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi.

The series is also going back to its original formula after collaborating with animation studios globally in its second volume. This time, all nine shorts will be created by a number of talented Japanese anime studios, some of which are returning from the first volume of the show.

For a lot of fans, this is a very welcome move, as the first season felt truly groundbreaking with its unique art styles and storytelling. Star Wars: Visions has always been something of a fascinating experiment, being a place where creators get to play in the sandbox of a galaxy far, far away without being constrained by canon. Basically, they get to do whatever they want.

Since its debut, Star Wars: Visions has been a worthwhile addition to the Star Wars mythos, distinguishing itself with its rich Japanese animation styles and diverse storytelling.

Its anthology format allows each episode or arc to stand alone and tell a complete story, containing everything from lighthearted adventures to darker and more philosophical narratives. The show has been praised by everyone for its bold experiments in animation and for how it respects the essence of the franchise while exploring cultural intersections, especially with Volume 2.

The first volume gave us a lonely Ronin who hunted Sith, a rock band trying to survive the galaxy, and a Jedi master in a futuristic wasteland. The second volume, which brought in studios from places like Ireland, South Africa, France, Korea, and India, gave us beautiful and emotional stories about found family and what it means to be a hero in a dark world. With Volume 3, it feels like they are taking all the best parts of both seasons and rolling them into one.
