It seems there might actually be hope for the Stranger Things fans hoping to see a few familiar faces back in Hawkins before the final episode of Netflix’s hit show.
During an appearance at MCM Comic Con, Stranger Things star Jamie Campbell Bower dropped a major spoiler when hinting that the series finale will feature some very important visitors from the show’s past.
“Normally when you’re filming a show of this size, when you get to like your final episodes, you don’t have many visitors,” Bower revealed. “We had some visitors, some very important visitors coming on the day that I had no idea were gonna be there. I was already like tripping out about the scene, and it ended up being one of the most powerful things I think I’ve laid down in this show. I’m gonna leave it there.”
Understandably, Bower did not elaborate further by revealing any names or the exact number of visitors he was referring to; however, his comments seem to all but confirm that the series finale might be bringing back a handful of familiar faces. This is a reveal that is sure to excite fans, who have been speculating about whether the final season will bring back some of the show’s departed characters – and there are certainly a few at the top of fans’ wish lists.

The Stranger Things series finale has the potential to bring back past characters
Given that Jamie Campbell Bower teased that the series finale brought back some important visitors, ones so big they had him tripping out, it seems safe to assume he was referring to characters who are not currently part of the series. This hints that we could see a few familiar faces from the past coming back into the mix within the final episode of the series.
The first name that comes to mind is Joseph Quinn, who was a breakout in season 4 as Eddie Munson. While Eddie died in the season 4 finale, there has been a lot of speculation and theorizing regarding ways Eddie could return and getting Quinn back for the finale would certainly be an impactful and unforgettable moment.
While Vecna didn’t kill Eddie directly, he did play a hand in his death with Eddie dying in the team’s first battle with Vecna in the Upside Down. If Eddie were to return, one has to wonder if Vecna’s other victims could also be coming back. Could the surprise visitors include Grace Van Dien (Chrissy Cunningham), Logan Riley Bruner (Fred Benson), and Myles Truitt (Patrick McKinney), aka the three victims Vecna killed in order to open the gates to Hawkins? It would certainly be unforgettable to see those victims return as pawns in Vecna’s final battle with the Hawkins crew.
Of course, those characters wouldn’t be near as impactful as seeing some of the show’s other former characters back in action following their respective deaths.
We’re talking Shannon Purser as Barb Holland, Sean Astin as Bob Newby, Dacre Montgomery as Billy Hargrove, and Matthew Modine as Dr. Brenner. Getting to see any of these four actors back for the final episode of the series would be truly epic and would certainly fit the bill of being important visitors. Each of these four characters played a major role in the show’s overall story, and their deaths were among some of the most shocking and heartbreaking moments in the show’s run.
To bring them back for the series finale would be an unforgettable moment that would surely leave fans speechless. Their returns would also make sense to be kept secret, thus why Bower was surprised when they arrived.
The idea of getting to see any of these characters back in the series finale is truly thrilling, and we’re eager to see who exactly Bower was referring to when the final episode arrives on December 31!
