Welcome to a very fiery episode of Take the Black, the weekly chat show where we talk all things sci-fi, fantasy, movies, TV and books. We have some good news and some bad news this week. Watch the new episode below to learn it all:
We start with the bad news: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, a new Game of Thrones prequel series that was originally going to air this year and which I was looking forward to, has been delayed into 2026. I use that as an excuse to go off on HBO's parent company Warner Bros. Discovery. Why are they seemingly so unconcerned with forcing fans to wait years between seasons of their favorite shows? Do they not know they're bleeding customers that way? Why can't they settle on a name for their streaming service? Do they have a public embarrassment fetish? We explore all avenues.
The good news: we talked to megastar fantasy author Brandon Sanderson and are publishing excerpts from our interview with him all week ahead of the full interview dropping this weekend. More good news: this Friday, a new sci-fi comedy called Murderbot will premiere on Apple TV+. We've seen it early, and it's awesome.
We also talk about the final episodes of Star Wars: Andor. Do they live up to the show's reputation for subtlety, grace and maturity, or were we left wanting more? And of course, we blast through another installment of the WiC News Lightning Round, where we go over stories we didn't have time to get to in the main body of the show and give our 20-second opinions, complete with a time buzzer to keep us honest.
The Take the Black Podcast is on iTunes and YouTube Music! Please subscribe and download from there if you can. Also, you can help us out by giving us a five-star rating and leaving a friendly comment! We’re also now on Spreaker, so try us there, as well.
We do this show every single week at 2:00 p.m. CST on the WinterIsComing YouTube and Facebook page. Why not stop by? You never know when I'm going to go on another angry rant onscreen.
