It's been another exciting week in the realms of fantasy and science fiction, and whoo boy do we have to talk about it. That's right, it's time for another episode of Take the Black, the talkshow podcast where myself and Marq Nettles get together and dish on all the latest dispatches coming out of Westeros.
Except this time we're not spending our entire show in Westeros, because a brand new Lord of the Rings movie was announced! How can we not talk about that?
Watch the full episode of the podcast below, or tune on your usual platform of choice!
Before we take our jaunt over to Middle-earth, we have to catch up on all the recent ravens from the Seven Kingdoms. It's good news all around for both Game of Thrones spinoffs! We finally know when A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will wrap filming on season 2! And over at the House of the Dragon set, reshoots are taking place to polish off the last bit of footage necessary for season 3. Should we be worried about these last minute additions? Showrunner Ryan Condal recently addressed it, so we obviously had to address his addressing.
That isn't the only House of the Dragon news making waves in the past week. Ser Criston Cole actor Fabien Frankel appeared at Budapest Comic Con and dropped a very intriguing hint about seasons 3 and 4, which sent Marq and I way down the rabbit hole. Could we about to hate our most beloved characters and find ourselves somehow rooting for those we loathe?
Eventually we do meander over to Middle-earth, but we certainly don't arrive there late, because wizards simply never arrive late, nor early. Instead, we begin talking about Stephen Colbert's new Lord of the Rings film right when we mean to. What exactly is The Lord of the Rings: Shadows of the Past? Where does it take place in the overall mythos of Tolkien's saga? And how do we feel about this surprise announcement that yet another spinoff Lord of the Rings movie is on the way that adapts, basically, the stuff Peter Jackson decided not to include in his iconic film trilogy? Oh, do we have thoughts.
