The other week, Prime Video released the first trailer for the upcoming third season of The Wheel of Time, its adaptation of Robert Jordan's beloved epic fantasy series. Naturally, we wanted to break the trailer apart every which way til Sunday, which we did, in written form. But we didn't get a chance to break it down on Take the Black, our weekly chat show where we talk all things sci-fi, fantasy, movies, TV and books. We were out that week and aired out "Best Sci-Fi and Fantasy Shows of 2024" episode instead.
But now it's a new week, we had a new live show, and we got to talk all about it. Watch the newest episode of Take the Black below, where we go over the biggest highlights from the first teaser trailer for The Wheel of Time season 3. Watch below:
And let's not forget the fantastic casting. The second season of The Wheel of Time improved markedly on the first. If that momentum continues, I have hope that the show could take the crown as the best fantasy drama on TV when the third season airs next year, but we'll see. The premiere drops on Prime Video on March 13.
Beyond The Wheel of Time, we go over some news bubbling up concerning House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. What's the temperature like over in Westeros as HBO continues to expand its roster of Game of Thrones prequel shows?
And like we do every week, we talk ask What Are We Watching. It ends up we're watching quite a bit here at the end of the year. What We Do In The Shadows is over, Silo is rocking off Daniel's face, and even Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is doing a half-decent job of entertaining us. And then Squid Game season 2 drops next week. TV will not let up! And then we finish with our signature WiC News Lightning Round, where we blitz all the news stories fit to print, but not fit enough to talk about in the main body of the show.

This was our last live show of the year! We're taking off Christmas Day, and then will be back the week after with a pre-recorded show about what series to look forward to in 2025. And then it's business as usual starting Wednesday, January 8, when we'll stream live at 2:00 p.m. CST on the WinterIsComing YouTube and Facebook pages. Join the discussion!
