Welcome to Take the Black, where we review the latest goings-on from the worlds of sci-fi, fantasy, movies, TV and books. Today, we have an early review of The Wheel of Time season 3! Together, we've seen all eight episodes of the new season, and we're here to give you our SPOILER-FREE impressions.

And that's only the first half of our show. Check out the new episode of Take the Black below:

How closely does The Wheel of Time stick to the books? When it changes things, is it for good reasons? Are the characters believable? Does Rand al'Thor come more to the forefront? What episodes stand out? Are the costume and effects departments stepping up their game? Is this season good enough to get the show renewed for another season or, preferably, another five or six? We get into all of it.

That last question is concerning. The post-Game of Thrones high, when everyone was trying to make their own epic fantasy show, is dying down. That high was responsible for getting a show like The Wheel of Time made, but if fans want to see this entire book series adapted, the show will need to post numbers. I hope it happens, because I want to see more!

Beyond The Wheel of Time, we check in on House of the Dragon, which is gearing up to film its third season. Are we feeling optimistic or nervous about its future? Also, George R.R. Martin drops a new update on The Winds of Winter. It's pretty much the same as the last update about The Winds of Winter, but we make the case for cutting him some slack.

And even that isn't enough for this super-sized episode of Take the Black! We also catch up on a lot of the other stuff we've been watching, including Severance, Invincible and Daredevil: Born Again. Our cup runneth over.
