The second season of The Last of Us will air on HBO and Max this upcoming Sunday, continuing the story of Joel, Ellie and the zombie apolcaypse. The first season was a huge hit when it aired a couple years ago, and the second season looks to up the ante. As it happens, we've gotten to see the new season ahead of the premiere, and we're to give you our spoiler-free review!
We talk all about it in the latest episode of our Take the Black podcast, where we disuss all things sci-fi, fantasy, movies, books and TV. It takes us a minute to get there, though. First, we visit Westeros to celebrate the start of production on House of the Dragon season 3, as well as check in on the ongoing feud between showrunner Ryan Condal and author George R.R. Martin, who originated the source material. The show is in a weird, exciting place.

We also have to talk about the birth of the first dire wolves to walk the Earth in over 10,000 years, brought back to life by Colossal Biosciences. Not only did the company pull off a scientific wherewithal, but they had the wherewithal to photograph it in the most ingenious of ways.
And of course, we also discuss what we're watching recently — look out for a barnburner of a new episode of The Wheel of Time tomorrow — as well as run through the WiC News Lightning Round, bringing you our takes at breakneck speed.
