The curse of the two-year gap continues. AMC has just announced that the third season of Interview With The Vampire, based on Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles book series, will return in 2026.
The second (excellent) season of Interview With The Vampire aired last year. These days, new seasons of TV shows seem to take their sweet time getting back on the air. I'd hope that Interview With The Vampire, which isn't as hard to make as some of today's other major tentpole dramas, might be able to manage a season a year, but here we are.
On the plus side, AMC dropped a fun poster to get fans excited:
There's something so vampiric about rock music.#InterviewWithTheVampire returns in 2026, only on AMC and AMC+. pic.twitter.com/HqkpFl1xQB

The first two seasons of Interview With The Vampire adapted the book of the same name, the first in Rice's series. The third season will adapt her second book: The Vampire Lestat, which tells the story from the perspective of the cavalier, violent, seductive title character. Actor Sam Reid shined as Lestat in the first two seasons, and as you can tell by the trailer at the top of this post, he's already having a ball playing a version of the character that's even more chaotic.
Also, in season 3, Lestat is a rock star, hence the theme of the poster. “The second book opens in this very extreme confronting different way,” Reid recently told Deadline. “We’re honoring that. The rock-star vampire is such a bizarre concept, and it’s something that we’re attempting and hopefully do it OK.”
The show looks like it's really leaning into this theme. They already released an original song by Lestat, with more to come. Season 3 could basically be a rock opera.
“The music has always been done by Daniel Hart, and Daniel Hart is really just bringing some extraordinary work to the new season,” Reid continued. “This show rests so heavily on his music. It’s so visceral, the way the music can come in and ride a wave for the audience. He’s really having the time of his life writing these songs.”
A sexy vampire musical is exactly the kind of big swing I am here for. I wish I didn't have to wait so long for new episodes, but I will be here when they finally start airing. In the meanwhile, you can stream both seasons of Interview With The Vampire on AMC+. The first season is also available on Netflix, if you'd like to use a platform you already have.
