The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 3 is officially coming to Prime Video in 2026, and now, we finally know when.
The Rings of Power season 3 will premiere on Nov. 11, 2026, exclusively on Prime Video. It's unclear if the release date includes the season 3 premiere or additional episodes.
In the first two seasons, we saw the first three episodes of each season available on the premiere date. I would assume that's the plan for season 3, but we haven't had confirmation. Personally, I hope not!
Prime Video just announced the release date ahead of its Upfronts presentation on Monday, May 11. The network also shared the synopsis of the season.
"Jumping forward several years from the events of season two, season three takes place at the height of the War of the Elves and Sauron, as the Dark Lord seeks to craft the One Ring that will give him the edge he needs to win the war and conquer all Middle-earth at last.”
From the sound of things, it looks like we're going to see the One Ring being forged in the new season, along with many battles in the War of the Elves, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter.
We should see almost all of the main cast return for season 3, including Morfydd Clark, Charlie Vickers, Robert Aramayo, Maxim Baldry, Markella Kavenagh, Owain Arthur, Daniel Weyman, and more. We also know that Stranger Things star Jamie Campbell Bower has joined the cast for the third season, along with a few other new cast members, too.
Eddie Marsan, Andrew Richardson, Adam Young, and Zubin Varla also joined the cast, but we don't know what roles they will be playing. There are some rumors about Campbell Bower's character, and I'm hopeful they are true.
The Rings of Power season 3 is going to be the most interesting season of the series to date after the explosive season 2 finale. There are few secrets about what is about to happen, and to see it play out on screen for the first time is super exciting for Rings of Power fans. I'm sure there will also be a few tricks and surprises along the way, though, too!
We've been expecting The Rings of Power season 3 to be released late this year, although there was a question of just how long post-production The cast and crew started filming Rings of Power season 3 in April 2025. Production on the third season continued into December 2025 before wrapping on Dec. 10.
We'll continue to share more news about The Rings of Power season 3 as we learn more about the season. I don't want to speak too soon, but I feel like this season has the potential to be the show's best yet.
