The season 5 premiere of The Boys is named after the show's most NSFW superhero
By Dan Selcke
There's only one season left of The Boys, Amazon's gleefully profane, often disgusting and always entertaining superhero sendup. New episodes are still a while off, but showrunner Eric Kripke is tiding fans over by revealing the title of the season 5 premiere. Check it out:
The season 5 premiere is called "Fifteen Inches of Sheer Dynamite." As Games Radar points out, this phrase is lifted directly from issue no. 14 of The Boys comic book, and is a reference to a superhero named Love Sausage. We've seen Love Sausage pop up a couple of times throughout the show; he's the one with an incredibly long and dangerous...love sausage.
In the comics, Love Sausage has a whole backstory. He's a Russian guy named Vasilii Vorishikin who used to lead a superhero team called The Glorious Five-Year Plan. The Boys TV show hasn't really dug into his character much — mostly he's been trotted out to display his memorable superpower and then walks offscreen until the producers feel like making us uncomfortable again — but if there's a whole episode named after him, maybe we'll learn more about him.
The Boys cast reassembles for fifth and final season
Meanwhile, the full cast of The Boys is assembling as filming on season 5 gets underway. The other day, star Laz Alonso (Mother's Milk) posted this cool image of a ton of the cast and crew members gathered for a dinner. "And just like that..... we're back!" he wrote.
The Boys has been going strong for years now and I'll while I'll be sorry to see it go whenever it comes out (probably sometime in 2026), I have confidence that Kripke and company will produce a final season worth remembering. In the meanwhile, the second season of The Boys spinoff Gen V will come out on Amazon Prime Video sometime in 2025.
