Rebranding as The Vampire Lestat, season 3 of AMC's Interview With The Vampire is poised to be the hottest show of the summer, if the teasers are anything to go by. We've known a summer release was coming, but we finally have a confirmed date for Lestat's return: June 7. But that's not all the news we received: a new single, serving as the series opening titles, was also released.
The new season follows fan-favorite vampire Lestat de Lioncourt in his rockstar journey, so it is only fair that AMC is letting Lestat's music cut through the long anticipation. Last month, The Vampire Lestat's first single, "Long Face," became available on all streaming sites and has since gained half a million listeners on Spotify alone... not bad for a fictional band from a gothic horror show, is it?

This will be the first time that the show -- previously Interview With The Vampire -- has an opening song, and it's only fair that Lestat, now a rockstar sensation, introduce his show through his music. In the song, Lestat heralds himself to the world, and he certainly makes no secret of his predator nature.
The eclectic opening sequence shows various shots of Lestat's new rockstar career as well as glimpses from his past lives through some people, locations, and objects he haunted in the last three centuries. Some of the imagery in the video points to mistakes, lost opportunities, vampire tropes in popular media (yes, including shade at Twilight/The Vampire Diaries-style characters), and rockstar shenanigans.
The various styles employed in the video are a hint at what's to come this season. As we follow Lestat on his rockstar adventure, we will also accompany him on a journey through his past, discovering all the personas he's inhabited in his long life through the centuries, always reinventing himself while remaining true to his glorious, unapologetic, flamboyant self. Except, this season we can expect to see many highs and lows.
