With only two episodes left of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3, it's becoming clear that not all plotlines are going to wrap up by the end. But that's not necessarily a bad thing.

In The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3 episode 6, Daryl and Paz continue to Barcelona and initiate their plan to rescue Justina (Candela Saitta). Meanwhile, Roberto's condition suddenly worsens, and once Fede's lies come to light, Carol and Antonio's lives are now at risk.

What happens in Daryl Dixon season 3 episode 6: "Contrabando"

The episode opens with Paz (Alexandra Masangkay) joining Daryl (Norman Reedus), which isn't surprising for viewers considering she wants to rescue El Alcazar's leader Guillermo's wife, Elena (Greta Fernandez). But Daryl isn't aware of this.

He witnessed Paz's interaction with Elena, but doesn't know that's her name or the extent of their association. In order to rescue Justina and Paz's friend, Paz enlists help from those who fled their community due to the Ofrendas.

It takes very little to convince them to help, but we all know the lack of communication and transparency is going to ruin everything. As Guillermo (Neil Brown Jr.) and his wife arrive outside the city gate, Paz and her friends, under the guise of armed guards, attack.

In the ensuing chaos of bullets flying and people dying, Daryl and Paz find Justina and another girl locked in a cage in the back of a truck. Paz's friend, blinded by her desire to kill Guillermo, who is next in line to be king, finds a rocket launcher and prepares to fire it at his car.

Paz stops her in time, preventing Elena's death. However, by missing the car, the missile hits the area where walkers were being kept.

Now, with walkers moving about (who immediately kill Paz's friend), Daryl and Paz have less time to rescue Justina. After trying to bust the lock open, the keys, and a gun, the lock still won't budge.

The walkers get closer, the gate opens, and they are forced to flee, having failed to save Justina. Paz's friends retreat, leaving it up to her and Daryl to complete their mission alone.

Meanwhile, Roberto (Hugo Arbués) begins to improve; however, Fede (Óscar Jaenada) orders his mother to have someone else treat him. Considering he's now aware that Daryl is not at the boatyard and the three men that El Alcazar was looking for were found as walkers, Fede decides to take matters into his own hands.

Out of the blue, Roberto gets worse, prompting Carol (Melissa McBride) to ask for medication. Fede refuses, claiming they do not have any to spare.

After she discovers that Antonio's cat was poisoned (another cute animal bites the dust in TWDU), she becomes desperate. Carol breaks into Fede's office looking for medication when Fede's mother catches her.

Using the little Spanish she has learned, mostly thanks to a translation book from Valentina and help from her time spent with Antonio, Carol convinces her that Fede had been lying and had poisoned Roberto. The old woman agrees to help, but this isn't the most surprising thing to occur in this episode.

No, not Carol accidentally catching Antonio showering naked outside, either. It's the fact that Antonio never told his son how his mother died.

Turns out, Antonio and his wife were very politically motivated, and during a time of unrest, Antonio insisted on recording a protest. He pushed his wife to interview the Prime Minister. But she, along with several others, died when a planted car bomb explodes. Roberto learns the truth when he sees the footage and overhears Antonio telling Carol.

What Antonio doesn't mention that the audience witnesses firsthand is that the day this happened is the same day the apocalypse begins in Spain, as Antonio's wife, along with those who died, reanimate. Now that Roberto was nearly killed by Fede, Carol thinks it best that they remain at the boatyard until the boat is ready to leave.

Antonio still refuses to leave but issues Carol a passionate kiss that she reciprocates fully. As she leaves with Roberto hiding underneath packed items, she's stopped by Fede, who wants to search the truck.

Carol is prepared to attack him, if necessary, but Antonio interferes, making a scene, accusing Fede of lying to his people. Fede allows Carol to leave without fully checking the truck to deal with Antonio.

Throughout the season, Daryl has had flashbacks of an incident from his childhood where, out of fear of his violent father, he flees his home in the trailer park with both his mother and Merle telling him to run. This memory has been haunting Daryl like an unending nightmare, but what is it about this particular memory that's bothering him?

It's beginning to look like TWD: Daryl Dixon season 3 will end on a cliffhanger

I need to know what the real reason is that Fede and Antonio hate each other. It's been obvious all season (very obvious) that it involves Roberto's mother, Antonio's wife.

I'm waiting for the show to go full soap opera (which it kind of has already, not complaining), and reveal Roberto is really Fede's son, or Antonio stole this woman from Fede or something worthy of a plot twist. She is at the center of it, and following the theme of love, Fede still has a photo of her in his office.

Romantic, yes, but we need answers before the season concludes. I'm willing to bet I'm not the only one who found Daryl and Justina's "moment" a little weird.

Yes, Daryl is now all in on saving her (rather suddenly, since it was Carol who was hellbent on getting involved), but the way they both held onto each other came off more romantic than necessary. Daryl may be feeling desperate to save her, as this is what Carol wanted to do, and having to retreat when they were so close is devastating, but this still didn't sit right with me.

As the season finale draws near, I am wondering just who will survive and what plot points will be left unresolved. Even if Paz and Daryl rescue Justina and Elena, they still have a long journey back.

Which means Daryl and Carol still can't leave Spain. It is a little frustrating going into the new season already knowing season 4 will be the last of TWD: Daryl Dixon, because we can assume the duo won't be leaving the country.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3 episode 7 airs on October 19 at 9:00 p.m. ET on AMC and AMC+.
