In the season 2 finale of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, both Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride) fled France and ended up in England, where they meet a new survivor played by British comedian Stephen Merchant. But that's not their final destination; the bulk of season 3 is set in sunny Spain. And with the new location comes a new team of crew members working behind the scenes, offering us a new, never before seen angle on the zombie apocalypse.

Daryl Dixon season 3 is currently in the middle of production. The new season will premiere sometime in 2025. We don't know what awaits Daryl and Carol in Spain. The crew have been tight-lipped, as expected. When we asked director Daniel Percival what awaits us in Spain, we were simply told to "wait and see," which is totally a fair and expected response.

But on a more encouraging note, Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride went a little more in depth during an interview with Collider. When asked about the new setting, Reedus teased that the new location offers up a totally new culture and energy:

""Everything is different [in Spain]. There are different artists making the show here. We have a different cast. Everything looks different and feels different, and it’s a different story. It’s new energy. You take these two characters traveling around Europe, and all of Europe is not the same, just like the United States isn’t. New Yorkers are way different from people in California and everyone in between. It’s the same here [in Spain]. It’s new energy.""

Melissa McBride also echoed his opinion, adding that the location becomes a character in and of itself. "And the location itself is like a character," she said. "There’s so much to play with, visually and story wise."

Besides knowing that it'll start off in England and move to Spain, we don't know much else about the season story-wise. Fans are already beginning to speculate on what might occur. For instance, in the original Walking Dead comics by Robert Kirkman, there's a short story called The Alien, written by Brian K. Vaughan, which follows Rick Grimes' brother Jeffrey as he survives in Spain. Might they include Jeffrey in the show? This theory is a little unlikely, since Rick has never mentioned a brother in the TV continuity, but hey, it's food for thought!
