Last month, Amazon Prime Video made the baffling move to cancel The Wheel of Time, its sweeping epic fantasy series based on the books by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson. The cancellation came right as The Wheel of Time finished airing its third and by far best season. Adapting a series as long and dense as The Wheel of Time was always going to be a big task, and it's disheartening to see the studio throw in the towel right as the show seemed to have really found its footing.
Since then, fans have been doing the Aiel proud and fighting hard to save the series. The website SaveWOT.com launched within hours of the cancellation, and has grown into a substantial hub for anyone looking to get involved in the effort to keep the series alive. It has a petition aimed at studios which has already amassed over 176,000 signatures. There are letter-writing campaigns, options to message streamers or submit videos expressing your support for the series, and more. The campaign also launched a GoFundMe to support things like billboards in cities around the world and a sky banner similar to the one used in campaign to save The Expanse, where a plane flies over studio headquarters trailing a banner urging them to pick up the show. The GoFundMe smashed all its goals, raising $32,800 — enough for all the campaign wanted to do and more.
Today the campaign is elevating things to the next level. The aerial sky banner is flying over Culver City, California this afternoon from 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. PT, where studios like Sony, Apple, Netflix and more have offices. Here's hoping some studio executives looked up to see the #SaveWOT message bannered across the sky.

This would all be exciting enough just for the spectacle of it all, but the whole point is to get the attention of the studios. And as of this writing, we do know that Amazon has indeed seen the banner. The Wheel of Time show's book expert Sarah Nakamura posted to X, saying that she was sent a picture of the banner from "someone inside the Amazon offices."
"Well #TwiterOfTime! They are hearing and seeing us," Nakamura wrote. "I just got this picture sent to me from someone inside the Amazon offices! This is why I love this community so much. We're gloriously alive today!! #SaveTheWheelOfTime."

The Wheel of Time billboards coming to major cities around the globe
This is only the beginning of a huge push from the campaign. Throughout this week, digital billboards will launch in New York City, Los Angeles, and London, while static billboards will spread the #SaveWOT message for weeks at a time in São Paulo, Brazil and L.A. Live in those cities and want to try and see them in action? Here's the list of what's currently planned:
Digital Boards:
- New York — 1530 Broadway, above I LOVE NY store — Runs for 24 hours from midnight local time starting on June 18.
- New York — Bryant Park Digital (42ND ST & 6TH AVE) — Runs 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. local time on June 18 to June 20.
- Los Angeles — Sunset Spectacular, 8875 W Sunset Blvd — Runs 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. local time from June 18 to June 20.
- London — The Premiere @ Leicester Square — Runs 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. local time from June 18 to June 20.
Static Boards:
- São Paulo — Avienda Paulista 1374, WeWork Sala Commercial — June 17 to July 14.
- São Paulo — Avienda Paulista 508 Bela Vista — June 17 to July 14.
- Los Angeles — 8922 National Blvd — June 23 to July 7.
The press release announcing all these dates says that "organizers are planning additional billboard locations which will be shared as they are booked," so there will be more to come.
“We’re truly blown away by the global legion of fans that donated to our fundraiser! Because of their generosity, we can take our message to the next level with billboards and a flyover," said a campaign organizer. "We believe our continued pressure on Sony Pictures will turn into positive action to find the show a new home.”
At this point I think it's safe to say that if The Wheel of Time does get saved, it will be very much because of these fans. This may be the most coordinated fan campaign to save a show I've ever seen, and it's still picking up steam. If you want to join the battle for the Light, head over to SaveWOT.com to learn more.
