The Witcher is going to look a lot different when it returns for its fourth season on October 30. Of course, it's hard not to look past the major casting shake-up, which saw series lead Henry Cavill depart the show, paving the way for Liam Hemsworth to step into the shoes of the beloved protagonist Geralt of Rivia.

Netflix has now officially confirmed that The Witcher season 4 will premiere on October 30—just in time for Halloween. The show's fifth and final season shouldn't be too far behind either, with the two seasons being filmed back-to-back. Altogether, the final seasons will adapt the novels Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow, and Lady of the Lake.

Ahead of the upcoming fourth season, the streamer has released a new clip in which the White Wolf takes on a wraith. Take a look:

When the teaser was posted on X, viewers flooded the comments with mixed opinions. Some folks threw shade at the new season with comments like "I’d rather watch Henry Cavill build a computer," and "no thank you."

It will take a lot to continue The Witcher without Cavill in the titular role, but here we are.

The Witcher showrunner teases seasons 4 and 5

With the release of the new clip, Netflix's TUDUM caught up with showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, who teased what's in store. “One of the things we always say is that it wouldn’t be The Witcher if everything ended happily,” she shared. “This is the beginning of a two-season journey for our family to finally reunite and be together — hopefully forever.”

Addressing the well-documented and talked-about changes to The Witcher Universe, Hissrich saw it as an opportunity for the series to reinvent itself, rather than a hindrance.

“Show up, be willing to be surprised, be willing to accept that things look different, and know that the core of what you love is still there,” she says to fans. “We also have this amazing opportunity, halfway through a series, to relaunch it — to say, ‘Things are different, we’re coming out of the gate with a bang, and it’s bigger and better than ever.’”

The Witcher returns for its eight-episode fourth season on Oct. 30. Moreover, according to a report from Redanian Intelligence, spinoff project The Rats is also expected to be released as a feature film later this year, but this has not been confirmed by Netflix.
