The Sandman is an epic comic book about Dream (Tom Sturridge), one of several eternal beings who together preside over different aspects of the human condition. The comic was written by Neil Gaiman, who has been accused of sexual assault. That scandal may have something to do with why Netflix is only producing one more season of the show, even though the comic runs for 10 volumes. Netflix just dropped a teaser trailer for the second and final season, which is coming out in July:

Specifically, the first six episodes will drop on July 3 while the final five will follow on July 24. The teaser trailer shows a scene from the fourth volume of the series, Season of Mists, where Dream and the rest of the Endless siblings meet for the first time in centuries. I imagine they'll cut and condense a lot of the story to reach a conclusion. There are a lot of standalone stories within The Sandman comics, so that might not be as hard to do as it sounds.

Still, we wont be getting as full a story as fans probably hoped. But given the allegations around Gaiman, that's probably for the best. Pretty much everything with Gaiman's name on it is being shaved down these days. That includes the Prime Video series Good Omens, which was originally going to have a whole third season; now it will just have one 90-minute episode to wrap up the story.

Watch the trailer for Twisted Metal season 2

As long as we're here, let's sample some of the other trailers knocking around the internet today, starting with a teaser for the new season of Twisted Metal, based on the vehicular combat video game series of the same name:

Marvel's own Anthony Mackie stars as a guy who can't believe that he has to fight a killer clown voiced by Will Arnet and played in the flesh by Samoa Joe. Twisted Metal season 2 will premiere on Peacock on July 31.

Watch the new trailer for 28 Years Later

Moving right alone, we have a new trailer for 28 Years Later:

28 Days Later was an exciting, new kind of zombie film when it came out back in 2002. A sequel, 28 Weeks Later, came out in 2007, but it didn't have the original creative team involved. 28 Years Later features the return of both writer Alex Garland and director Danny Boyle.

So far, so creepy; they're getting a ton of mileage out of that spooky reading of Rudyard Kipling's poem "Boots." 28 Years Later lands in theaters on June 20.

Watch a new trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps

Finally, Disney has released a new trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, the premiere Marvel movie of 2025. Watch below:

It looks like First Steps will not be an origin story, but rather start with the Fantastic Four — Mister Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, the Thing, and the Human Torch — already established, and thank goodness for that. We also get our first look at Julia Garner as the Silver Surfer, the herald of the planet-eating supervillain Galactus.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps comes out in theaters on July 25.
