2025 will be a big year for The Witcher. The fourth season of the Netflix show will return, with Liam Hemsworth replacing Henry Cavill in the lead role of Geralt of Rivia, professional monster hunter. There's a new Witcher video game on the way (although that probably won't come out until later). Much closer in time, we have The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, a new animated movie set during an earlier time in Geralt's career. Watch the trailer below!
Here's where and when you can watch The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep:
- Streaming service: Netflix
- Date: Tuesday, February 11
- Time: 12:00 midnight PT
That means that The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep will drop at 1:00 a.m. MST, 2:00 CST and 3:00 a.m. EST.
What is The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep about?
Here's the official description for The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, straight from Netflix itself:
"When human sailors are attacked by mysterious creatures of the deep, only one person can stop the war between land and sea: the Witcher, Geralt of Rivia."
The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep is based on the short story "A Little Sacrifice" by author Andrzej Sapkowski, which you can read in full in his collection Sword of Destiny. As the synopsis suggests, Geralt finds himself mediating a conflict between humans in the seaside village of Bremervoord and a group of merpeople who are attacking divers. It's set between the fifth and sixth episodes of The Witcher season 1, so Geralt has met his sorceress love interest Yennefer but they haven't yet committed completely to each other. In this story, he'll make a connection with a bard named Essi Daven (Christina Wren). Geralt's friend Jaskier will also feature, voiced by actor Joey Batey, who also plays him in live-action.
Geralt himself will not be voiced by Henry Cavill, but nor will Liam Hemsworth step in. Instead, this version of Geralt will be played by Doug Cockle, who voices the witcher in the video games.
