WWE Superstar and five-time Women's World Champion Becky Lynch (real name Rebecca Quin) recently announced on X that she'll be joining the cast of the Paramount+ series Star Trek: Starfleet Academy as a member of the bridge crew.

“You know, when you’ve already been champion of the world, there’s only one place to go next, and that’s to the stars,” Lynch said. “I am so excited to share with all of you that I am joining Star Trek: Starfleet Academy as part of the bridge crew. Lads, this has been the most amazing experience acting alongside just a spectacular cast and crew, and I cannot wait for all of you to check it out when it comes out on Paramount+. And hey, live long and prosper.”

Lynch is widely regarded as one of the most successful female wrestlers in WWE history. In addition to her multiple reigns as world champion, she was named Sports Illustrated's Women's Wrestler of the year in 2018 and 2019. The New York Post also named her Female Wrestler of the Year in 2023. She was the first woman to hold both the Raw and Smackdown Women's Championships simultaneously.

Lynch's prior acting credits include a two-episode run as singer Cyndi Lauper in Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's NBC sitcom Young Rock, and an appearance in the Showtime finance drama Billions. She also voiced the character Axehammer in the Paramount+ animated film Rumble.

She joins a number of professional wrestlers who have successfully made the jump to Hollywood, including Dwyane Johnson, Dave Bautista, John Cena, Hulk Hogan, and Andre the Giant.

Starfleet Academy will feature Holly Hunter as chancellor of the titular academy and Paul Giamatti as the show's villain. Stark Trek: Discovery stars Tig Notaro, Mary Wiseman, and Oded Fehr are set to reprise their roles in Academy. Although no season premiere date has been set, a second season of the show is already in development.

The series, which will be the 12th in the long-running Star Trek franchise, will follow the adventures of a new class of cadets as they come of age in the 32rd century and see if they have what it takes to become Starfleet officers. The 10-episode first season is expected to premiere on Paramount+ in either 2025 or 2026.
