HBO has let us know that a new “In Production” featurette will air tomorrow night at 8:54 P.M. Eastern Time, prior to the finale of Boardwalk Empire. The Game of Thrones: In Production video will feature “interviews with the creators, cast and more,” providing our first official look at season three and at some of its new characters!
After the first look airs on HBO, it will be available online at Making Game of Thrones, as well as HBO.com and Game of Thrones‘s youtube channel.
Ours is the Fury: I love the In Production videos, and I’m excited to see the new cast members. Personally, I’d like to get a look at the Tullys and Riverrun. Who or what are you hoping to see?

Boardwalk Empire has been great this year. I wasn’t sure how it would be go after they killed Jimmy last season, but it’s been fine. I was sad to see Manny go so quickly early this season. Spoiler tags in case people are still catching up on that show. But yeah Gyp is very entertaining.
There are so many new characters this year and only a few minutes of video time, so I’m worried we’ll only see a few of them. But even a montage would be good.

As an aside, I have been rewatching season 1 for the first time since it aired. Of course I’ve seen the episodes more than once, I would watch them multiple times during the week they aired, but this is the first time I’ve actually sat down and watched multiple episodes back to back. Doing it like this it’s surprising how little the things I remember griping about two years ago actually stick out. It’s a remarkably well-done show, and come season 3 I’m going to have to remember to shut my gob until the season’s over and I have a chance to view it like this, before I knock anything. I love how much of the casting is so great, including characters like Benjen and Aliser Thorne that are so minor.

HBO is introducing quite a Iron ship load of characters this season; my opinion is there will be three or four production videos. One will concentrate on Mance and the north, the second, Tully’s and Tyrells, the third will be Dany’s story arc (Arstan!). We may get a forth, Tyrells and KL in their own video, thereby the Tully’s and possibly the Vale in the second.

I would think they would mostly have footage of the cast filmed earlier in Dublin and maybe not have Iceland or Morocco stuff ready for promos just yet.
My guess is that we will get some of the Riverrun and the Tullys, maybe some of Arya and the BWOB. I doubt Dany or Jon scenes wlll make it into the first promo, but maybe a very brief cutaway interview with Emilia or Kit being that they’re quite popular….

I think ‘Boardwalk Empire’ was pretty lackluster for the first 7 or 8 episodes but has been really good the past few. I’m not crazy about Gyp. I think he is cartoonish and not at all complex. Also, Van Alden and Chalky are criminally underused. And I still have trouble believing Buschemi in his role. Having seen the most recent seasons of ‘Breaking Bad’,'Homeland’, and ‘Boardwalk Empire’, I believe ‘Game of Thrones’ has a legit shot at winning the Emmy for best drama next year. Of course, ‘Mad Men’ could rebound and have an excellent season 6, but the other shows I mentioned all had weaker seasons than last year, IMO.
I can’t wait to get a glimpse of Mance, Tormund,Ramsey, the Brotherhood,QOT, and the Blackfish. Oh seven hells, I can’t wait to get a glimpse of everyone! Even the frogeaters.

As much as I would love to see him, I don’t think they would/should show us Beric yet. His character should have a semi surprising reveal. It would kind of ruin it to show him in a production video. Im not sure how zombified they are going to make him but I would bet they are going to use VFX to some extent. Its unlikely they would show us anything with VFX in a production video, especially a character (unless that video happened to be about VFX).
Maybe they will show some of the brotherhood though. Fingers crossed.

Boardwalk Empire has been great this season, it really has. American Horror Story Asylum and Walking Dead have also have had excellent seasons so Game of Thrones Season 3 will have it’s work cut out in the Emmys but the signs are good from the little smidgits of info that we’ve had. Personally I’m looking forward to seeing Riverrun in all it’s glory but I’ll be just glad to see ANY footage of season 3

I think Boardwalk has Ben excellent all season, not a single weak episode. As for Mad Men, season 5 was just about it’s best season (much better than S4) and it should not have lost to the good but overrated Homeland.

Mance- been name dropped all of s2, non-readers will be expecting him to appear anyway so no great spoiler. Ciaran Hinds is great, show him off!
Olenna- she’s a key character and if she’s as much fun to watch as to read about will steal every scene she’s in. I do hope she has some scenes with Tywin. Got to introduce her.
Edmure- the Tullys will be important so need to be talked about. And hopefully a bit about Riverrun too, maybe we’ll also see the Blackfish?
Preferably not Beric as I’d like his return to be a surprise to non-readers.
The Reeds are a maybe, I consider them less vital than the others mentioned- Bran’s story moves slower than most so they might keep the new characters as a surprise.

Boardwalk always has two or three “slow” episodes where they focus on character development and less plot. One of these episodes was the Richard one when he goes over the girls house for dinner. I felt the first three were strong, then the character episodes, strong again, one more character one, then strong till the end. When you rewatch the season as a whole, with no expectations, all the “slow” episodes fit into place and is more enjoyable.

According to the On Demand HBO schedule, there will be a new HBO 2012 Yearend video available 12/3/12 On Demand. I’m assuming they will be showing this tonight first. Maybe it will contain new footage for the new season of GoT in the “coming next year” portion.
As for who I’d like to see in the new video, there are so many new, exciting characters, but I’m probably most excited about Jojen & Meera and Mance.

Certainly Ciaran Hinds, the famous face and voice. Surely Diana Rigg, the famous name. I suspect the Reeds, and I’m hoping for Missandei. I’m inclined to think that Beric and probably Thoros too will be kept on the shelf, though maybe Anguy (whose role, I’m guessing, will combine some of that of Harwin in the books) might be seen with bow and arrow in hand. If we have fifteen minutes we’ll see all the returning featured players at least briefly — and yes, I hope that that includes Ros.

I do like Natalie Emmanuel, but I’d hoped they’d have gone with someone who was much darker, to emphasize that she’s one of the few characters actually from Sothoryos. Lighter skin makes her look like just anybody from Slaver’s Bay; though I hope this looks better on-screen in-character.

You really think Tyrion’s trial will be in this season? That would require putting Joffrey’s wedding in this season, which is highly unlikely. Also, if he were in this season, news of him being cast would almost certainly have leaked by now. They may have him show up Olenna, but be in the background and then recast him later, as they did with Beric Dondarrion, but short of that, he’s not gonna show up this season. And Highgarden wouldn’t be the first ruling castle to not have it’s Lord show up for a while… look at Riverrun and Dragonstone. And there is no way they are going to show us the Lord of Sunspear right away — likely it’ll be at LEAST half a season between the introduction of Oberyn Martell and the introduction of Doran Martell.

This is true of most TV series, I’ve noticed. For example, I am expecting my opinion of Fringe’s final season (and the series) will be quite different in the end. The weekly viewing means you have a week to set up your expectations and what you think/hope will happen; when it doesn’t happen you feel let down. Watching all the episodes in marathon viewing means you can get the to the bigger picture faster. Also, it helps keep up the excitement and momentum, which can sometimes die down when there’s a whole week or more in between episodes.
I’ve watched Game of Thrones season 1 at least 4 times and season 2 at least twice. With each viewing, I find I enjoy it more and more and am very proud of everyone involved with the series.

Meera looks great, they didn’t go with the green leather and straightened hair, like I would have liked. But I aint complaining, hell last year we didn’t even know if D&D would give us our Reeds. So happy, she is very pretty and has big, very aware, eyes.
