Season 6 Reportedly Filming in Crossgar, Plus New Harbors

The Game of Thrones production is criss-crossing its way across the Irish countryside as it films Season 6. So far we’ve had reports of filming from Dublin down to Saintfield, County Down. Now we’ve seen reports that the production has posted signs for filming as far as Crossgar. (Crossgar is south of Saintfield, but not as far as Downpatrick.)

There have been reports on and off of the production heading there, but all rumors suggest that whatever’s happening there is small, and that it would be a one-day type thing.

But locals say the signs are still up, which is interesting. (The production is very swift to remove the signs as soon as they are finished in a location.)

Much like the filming in Saintfield, we’re not exactly sure what is being filmed here. Since this was the area that stood in for generalized “North” locations of Robb’s army, our best guess is that we have characters who are moving along northern roads. Perhaps Brienne and Pod? (We know Daniel Portman only just returned to Belfast the other day, so perhaps not?)  Could this be related to returning to Frey-controlled lands?

Meanwhile, we’re keeping an eye out for filming in Ballintoy Harbor, which is supposed to be occurring soon. Sources say it won’t be the only harbor used for this season either.

Sounds like someone’s ship might be on the move. Both harbors Irish Thrones lists as possible ports of call have gorgeous rocky landscapes.

This could easily be another area of the Iron Islands.

The question is if we might be having a Kingsmoot at one of them? Either way, if this is for Victarion Greyjoy, (the “pirate” in the casting list) I’m sure he’s not one to dock any one place for too long…
