Game of Thrones comes to New York Comic Con 2015
The New York Comic Con officially opened its doors today, and as you might expect, our favorite television series—Game of Thrones—is being well represented there. While not as large as the San Diego Comic Con (in the area of big announcements via the large film studios), NYCC has actually eclipsed it’s sister to the west in terms of attendance. So it makes perfect sense for the HBO Shop to have a presence there and represent Game of Thrones through some lots of neat merchandise.
First up, we’ve got a look at the Dothraki language book by author David J. Peterson.
By the way, in case you were wondering, that phrase is “Me nem nesa” is Dothraki for “It is known.” It is known. We’ve also got a look at a Game of Thrones cosplayer done up as Melisandre.
Here, thanks to our sister site Hidden Remote, we’ve got a look at the Game of Thrones Todd McFarlane collectible figures and sets.
Below, HBO transports fans to the Con is style:
I think this Stannis Baratheon shield plaque is rather hot (pun intended). The item is an NYCC exclusive, and can be found on the HBO Shop for $30. “This New York Comic Con Exclusive Stannis Shield Replica fashioned with the flaming heart and black stag is an exact replica of his shield used in battle.”
As far as star power from the show, NYCC is not the place where the networks tend to bring out the big guns, as it were. However, Game of Thrones alum Rose Leslie (Ygritte) will be on hand to promote her new film with Vin Diesel: The Last Witch Hunter. Natalie Dormer (Margaery Tyrell) will be there to talk about the last installment in The Hunger Games franchise, Mockingjay Part 2. And finally, Ned Stark himself—Sean Bean—will be at NYCC to talk about the second season of Legends, his TNT show.
There’ll also be a Game of Thrones panel with Dormer, Finn Jones (Loras Tyrell), and Keisha Castle-Hughes (Obara Sand) that’ll take place at 4:00-5:00 PM EST. Stay tuned as we keep you updated on all the Game of Thrones-related happenings from this year’s New York Comic Con.
And now, without further ado: merch merch merch!
