Game of Thrones Season 6 casting a new role: “Captain of the Tower”

Filming in Northern Ireland (or one part of Northern Ireland) may be stalled at the moment, but we do have some news about what will be going down toward the end of the year. Watchers on the Wall, which has proven itself a very reliable site for casting news, has come upon a new casting notice for a small but important role.

"Captain of the Tower. Aged 35 – 45. The captain is in charge of the security of a castle. He’s an able soldier, physically fit, commanding and capable. He has a lot of dialogue in a scene where he is with his superiors and has to make a difficult decision.  This is a one-scene part with leading cast. The role shoots for one week, commencing December 2nd in Northern Ireland."

Intriguing. The Northern Irish location means this character is probably located in the North or the Riverlands. He could be a character at Riverrun, but odds are filming there will be over by December, so let’s think North. We know that the members of various Northern houses will be showing up in Season 6, including likely speaking parts for members of the Umber and Karstark families. Could this character be stationed at the castle of one of those families?

The floor is open for speculation. In other Northern news, Kit Harington has been spotted in Belfast again, at least according to this second-hand account.

Given the news coming out of Saintfield recently, these sightings are becoming less and less of a surprise. Finally, it would be remiss not to mention that there have been new rumblings that Michelle Fairley (Catelyn Stark) is in Belfast, an important area for Game of Thrones filming activity. This could mean everything, but much more likely means nothing.

Basically, Exorcizda is saying that Fairley was spotted in a cafe with another Game of Thrones actor. Seeing as how Fairley is, y’know, from Northern Ireland, it’s not unusual that she would be in a Northern Irish city, assuming this tweet is accurate in the first place. Still, far be it from me to stop anyone from hopping on the Stoneheart truther train.
