Calling all editors: write about pop culture for fun and profit
By Dan Selcke
As you may have noticed, we here at Winter is Coming enjoy talking about Game of Thrones. Sometimes I think we have a problem. But impossible as it seems, there are other pieces of pop culture out there, and many of them have their own websites devoted to them. Several of those websites are operated by FanSided, the same network that operates WiC.
FanSided is looking for people to help run these websites, and wants to harness the passion of fans to make it happen. As an editor (or co-editor, in which case you’d be working alongside another person), you’d scan for news, write editorials, and sniff out others who are interested in writing about your chosen topic. You can do a ton with one of these positions—feel free to get creative!
Payment would be through revenue share, meaning that the better your site does, the more you make. I’m not going to tell you that you’re going to become a billionaire overnight, but if you put in effort, it’ll come back to you. Same goes for how much you enjoy the work. You pretty much get out of this job what you put into it.
So what websites are in need of an editor? Check out the links below:
App Trigger—We’re looking for a co-editor to help run this website about apps and mobile gaming.
HBO Binge—We need a co-editor to help manage this site dedicated to all things HBO, including Game of Thrones.
True Detective Rumors—Unhealthily fascinated with the strange goings-on on HBO’s True Detective? Work out your obsession as the editor of this site.
Caped Crusader—It’s a Batman fan site (if you couldn’t guess), and it needs a co-editor.
Fans of Taylor—Some will tell you that this is Taylor Swift’s world—we just live in it. If you’re one of those people, you may make a good editor for this site.
Call Saul Now—AMC’s dip back into the world of Breaking Bad is a hit! Cover Better Call Saul as the co-editor of this site.
If you’re interested in these opportunities, apply at this link. Write your chosen website in the field where it says “Sport/Team/Topic interests.”
