HBO recently hosted a promotional event in Beverly Hills and revealed some new tie-in merchandise, the highlight being the brand new line of Funko 3.75″ action figures, coming to stores this summer. As usual, the Funko figure sets are planned to be released in waves, and the you’ll be able to easily identify the first wave theme as you scan the pictures below.

Funko has discontinued its earlier 6-inch Legacy Collection line, which was praised for its accuracy but suffered from scarcity and breakage issues, and is now offering this new one. These figures are similar to standard Star Wars action figures, and have nine points of articulation (joints where they can bend and wobble). The combination of fine detail, flexibility, and durability is always a balancing act with action figures, and it looks like Funko has achieved a good combination this time around.

The new line figures also look more like the actors who play the characters, which is an improvement on the previous set, which offered generic face sculpts (which allows the toymaker to avoid paying actors for their likeness rights). I think they look pretty good, with Sam looking reasonably befuddled, and Jon, with Longclaw, appearing as serious and earnest as ever.

Does looking at this new line of toys give you the chills? It should. As you’ve probably realized by now, the first wave of action figures—including Tormund Giantsbane, Ygritte, Jon Snow, Samwell Tarly, King of Bones, and the Night’s King—has a Wall theme because, guess what, Funko has the Wall Display Set on the way. The Display Set is 13″ tall with 15″ scaffolding, comes with an exclusive Tyrion Lannister action figure (does he pee off the top?), and is designed to interact with up to 25 other figures.

The Funko website blog sets the release dates for the new action figures as May, and for the Wall Display Set as June. No price point has been announced, but the new toys are expected to go for less than the Legacy figures, which retailed for $20. They look good, and even Ghost shows up in his own standalone package.

HBO has some more toy goodness coming your way. If you are a fan of Funko’s Pop Vinyls, you can look forward to the arrival of Stannis, Melisandre, Bronn, Margaery, Jorah, Unsullied, Son of the Harpy, and Daenerys with Drogon, currently anticipated to sell at $12 apiece.

If you are a Game of Thrones toy lover, this all looks like a pretty good haul, I’d say.
