According to reports, thousands are queuing up today in the Spanish town of Zumaia, in hopes they will be chosen to appear as extras in Game of Thrones. Over the weekend, ModExpoR posted a casting notice for extras in Season 7. Filming on these scenes will take place October 21-30.

The casting notice calls for men only, ages 20 to 50. They want all types of races: white men, “Mediterranean looking” (e.g. Dornish) and darker skinned (e.g. Dothraki.) No underaged actors and no women. (Interesting.)

The talk about men with military experience suggests that soldiers will appear in these scenes. We’ve had numerous reports about what sort of scenes will be shot here, and soldiers of all kinds wouldn’t be out of place.

Casting is happening today, and turnout was robust. Reports from Zumaia this morning say that over a thousands people turned out in hopes of getting one of those 200 slots.

Some lined up the night before and slept outside. “Well, we are here for the casting call for Game of Thrones” reads the caption

Behold the long, long lines.

We note that not everyone has come in short sleeves as the call requested, but it’s probably chilly. Also, cheers to the guy in the lower left-hand corner for coming with his beard already braided.

And here is the arrival of the production to set up and start seeing the extras. Good luck to everyone who auditions today, and we look forward to seeing you all in huge crowd scenes and then CGI’d to the point that you show up in shots half a dozen times!
