Game of Thrones filming scenes in Bangor, NI, plus pics of the castle set at Zumaia
By Dan Selcke
Filming on Game of Thrones Season 7 marches on. First, Irish Thrones reports that the production has stopped by a performing arts center in Bangor, a town in County Down, Northern Ireland.
Pink GoT signs have been seen in the area, as well as trucks from both the Dragon and Wolf units.
Whatever the production is filming, it’s filming it inside, so we can’t be sure of anything. Still, it’ll likely be something small—there’s no room to build a giant set in there.
But the big news lately has been about the small town of Zumaia, in Spain. HBO is busy casting extras to shoot scenes in the area (among others), and we’ve had numerous reports about what those scenes may entail. Now, new photos of the set being built at Zumaia’s Itzurun Beach have been surfacing on the internet, including this one from Watchers on the Wall.
The set has come a long way since the last time we saw it:
Clearly, it’s now a castle wall. But which castle? Dragonstone? Storm’s End? A seaside castle in Dorne? King’s Landing as seen from Blackwater Bay?
We’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, check out some more pictures.
Honestly, this looks like Dragonstone to me, with the the layered construction and the opportunities to digitally insert more castle up above. Landing there might appeal to Daenerys, since that’s where her ancestor Aegon the Conqueror began his conquest of Westeros hundreds of years before.
But there are no guarantees. What do you guys think is happing here?
