Fan-made trailer for Game of Thrones Season 7 gets the blood pumping

I’m not sure why, but the this fan-made trailer for Game of Thrones Season 7, first uploaded to YouTube in July, has been making the rounds lately. But it’s incredibly well-done, so it’s worth another look anyway. Behold “Reign.”

YouTuber Beautifullytragic6 cleverly weaves clips from other movies and TV shows in with footage from Game of Thrones. The clips are cuts quickly and share enough visual similarities to the HBO show that some people in the comments section didn’t even notice. For example, there are a few shots of Kit Harington from Pompeii, a movie where he played a Roman gladiator, spliced in there. And Cersei’s line near the beginning (“I stand before you not only as your queen…I come to you with great humility.”) is from 300, where Lena Headey played a Spartan queen. (Everyone should have known it wasn’t something Cersei actually said when she mentioned humility, not her strong suit.)

In any case, kudos to Beautifullytragic6 for some canny editing.

Fan-made Game of Thrones trailers and reflective videos are hot items on YouTube. The fans have to do something with their resourcefulness during the long wait for Season 7. This one, from The Last Harpy, focuses on how the events of Season 6 set things up for a conflict between humanity and the White Walkers…

…and this one, from Zurik 23M, celebrates some of the action scenes from the show, complete with hypnotically rhythmic editing.
