Storybook Cosmetics plans Game of Thrones-themed makeup kits

Hot off their success with Harry Potter-themed makeup kits, Storybook Cosmetics has revealed a Game of Thrones set is in the works for 2017. Storybook Cosmetics, for those who haven’t heard about them yet, burst onto the makeup scene last year with a fun and hilarious concept: a “wand-themed” makeup brush kit for all those witches and wizards out there who found themselves with dates to this year’s Yule Ball. The concept proved a runaway success, and with millions clamoring for makeup brush sets (and makeup palettes) for their own chosen fandoms, the company is working hard in the new year to provide.

Two days ago, the company took to its Instagram account and released the artistic concepts for several fandoms that are in the works. Among them: Lightsaber brushes for the Star Wars fan, Sonic Screwdriver brushes for the Doctor Who fan, and valyrian steel sword brushes for the Game of Thrones fans.

It should be noted that of the concept art sets of which the company presented pictures, only the Game of Thrones one has make up palettes included as part of the plan. That’s because originally the company wasn’t producing actual makeup sets for eyes or lipsticks—they were just doing novelty brushes. It wasn’t until after the wand brushes sold out super fast that the company went back and introduced wizarding world-themed makeup palettes.

That the concept art for Game of Thrones immediately introduces both brushes and palettes, including an Iron Throne compact and an eye makeup set that is in the shape of a book, suggests that of the three fandoms Storybook is targeting for 2017, they expect the Westeros-based one to do as well as the Harry Potter sets. (Although those I have spoken to think the chance to paint one’s face with lightsabers before hitting the club is the most appealing.) Still, we’ll be keeping an eye on the company, and will report back when the brush sets (and the makeup kits) become a reality. Hopefully that will be in time for Season 7, or at least before The Winds of Winter comes out.
