Game of Thrones season 7 poster art shows up on side of bus in Austin

Less than a week from the official kickoff of the annual media monstrosity that is South by Southwest, HBO and Game of Thrones appear to be increasing their presence around the city of Austin. Thanks to an eagle-eyed Reddit user, we can enjoy an image of new art that’s turned up on the side of city buses operated by Capital Metro. Could this be our first peek at official poster art for Game of Thrones season 7?

"[NO SPOILERS] These popped up on the Austin Metro. Are they new? Has anyone seen them in other cities? from gameofthrones"

Featuring the hashtag #GoTS7, the art appears to blend ice and fire imagery, bringing to mind the title of George R.R. Martin’s book series: A Song of Ice and Fire.

This is in addition to Game of Thrones’ already massive presence at SXSW, which includes a panel on Sunday featuring showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss, together with actors Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams. There will also be a unique “escape room” experience featuring a room modeled after the show. Finally, fans will have the chance to sample HBO and Vintage Wine Estate’s new line of Game of Thrones inspired wines (about time) and to sit the Iron Throne.

And if buses aren’t your style, HBO generally has more than a few pedicabs decked out with the Iron Throne as well. South by Southwest kicks off Friday, March 10th, in Austin, TX.
