This Game of Thrones theory generator confirms all your craziest suspicions
By Corey Smith
Brace yourself: SPOILERS are coming. But not real ones. A new Game of Thrones theory generator called TheoriesAreComing.com lets fans pair characters with scenarios to come up with a fan theory for any situation. Think Tyrion is going to kill the Night King? There’s a theory for that. Suspect that Euron Greyjoy and Bran Stark might be the same person? There’s a theory for that. The theories this site spits out range from the completely absurd (mostly that) to the conceivably possible, but there’s little danger you’ll learn something you shouldn’t.
Here’s how it works: choose one of ten characters, all of whom remain alive on the show. In addition to main characters like Jon Snow and Daenerys, smaller players like Lyanna Mormont and Podrick are also included. After selecting your character, you can choose from ten different scenarios. For example, might Podrick Payne sit upon the Iron Throne when all is said and done?
"And so he spoke, and so he spoke, the lord of Castamere. But now the rains weep o’er his halls, with no one there to hear. This song immortalized Tywin Lannister’s destruction of House Reyne, assumed to be extinct now. But what if Podrick is secretly a scion of House Reyne and his end game is revenge against the Lannisters? Reyne even sounds like Payne. With houses Targaryen, Stark, Baratheon and Lannister all not far from extinction, maybe the story will end with a Reyne on the Iron Throne."
We’re behind it. Or how about the notion that Tyrion secretly controls the White Walkers?
"Every time someone mentions White Walkers, Tyrion responds with ridicule. Why does an intelligent and well-read man not even consider the possibility? It’s obvious: He’s playing everyone. He controls the White Walkers and is lulling everyone into a false sense of security that they don’t exist. But why? Think about this. The Imp has had a bucketload of enemies all his life. What’s the best way to put one over those who’ve wronged him? Bringing a horde of ice demons to destroy them, of course."
Again, it’s more likely than not. The website can even come up with a theory for how Lyanna Mormont planned the Red Wedding:
"The reason Lyanna became Lady of Bear Island so young in her life is that her entire family died at the Red Wedding. Is it possible that Lyanna herself instigated the Red Wedding so that she would ascend to power? It’s certainly up GRRM’s alley to make a character appear honorable only to have us curse the gods when we discover that her motives were sinister after all."
Damn. And here we were starting to like her.
TheoriesAreComing.com takes itself more seriously than the Game of Thrones spoiler generator, which spits out nutso plot leaks such as “Bran will warg into a fat maester to murder Jaime” and “Sam’s sister is actually your mother.” It’s good to have both of them out there for a well-rounded spoiler experience.
The possibilities on TheoriesAreComing.com are many, and each one’s more fun than the last. Make sure your schedule is clear and enjoy.
