Charles Dance takes on Godzilla, actors behind Euron and Grey Worm join WWII drama, and more

What’s new in the worlds of our favorite Game of Thrones actors? As always, a lot.

Members of the Greyjoy family seem particularly busy. Per Screenrant, Pilou Asbæk (Euron Greyjoy) and Jacob Anderson (Grey Worm) have joined the cast of Overlord, a World War 2 flick from Bad Robot, J.J. Abram’s production company. The story involves a group of American paratroopers who land in a French village on D-Day, and discover there’s more going on there than the typical Nazi resistance they expected. As is typical with an Abrams production, some supernatural shenanigans are expected. Filming begins later this month.

Elsewhere, NME interviewed Gemma Whelan (Yara Greyjoy) about her busy, busy schedule, which includes playing Kalinda Black in the audiobook version of Just One Damned Thing After Another, the latest installment in Jodi Taylor’s Neil Gaiman-inspired Chronicles of St. Mary‘s book series wherein a group of people travel through time and investigate historical events. “Kal is feisty and Mancunian and very front-footed, no messing, a leader. She doesn’t take any bulls**t and she’s very witty,” Whelan said.

And to keep with the World War 2 theme, Whelan said that, were she able to travel through time, she’d like to see that conflict up close on account of her relatives having served in the war. Bring a helmet.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg where Whelan is concerned. On top of receiving praise for her transformation in the BBC drama Moorside, where she plays a mother who falsely claims her daughter was kidnapped, she’s also filming season 2 of Netflix’s award-winning series The Crown, which she absolutely cannot talk about. As a Game of Thrones vet, surely she’s used to that.

Meanwhile, Richard Madden (Robb Stark) is joining a star-studded cast on Channel 4’s Electric Sheep, a UK anthology series based on the works of sci-fi author Philip K. Dick. Madden’s episode is called “The Hood Maker.” The synopsis:

"The Hood Maker is set in a world without advanced technology and where mutant telepaths have become humanity’s only mechanism for long distance communication. But their powers have unintended implications and when the public begins to embrace mysterious, telepath-blocking hoods, two detectives with an entangled past are brought in to investigate."

Finally, Deadline reports that the stately Charles Dance (Tywin Lannister) has joined the cast of Godzilla: King of Monsters, slated for releases in 2019. This is the sequel to the 2014 version of Godzilla, and if Dance shows up to battle the monsters as Tywin, our money is on Tywin.

A little sidenote: Godzilla: King of Monsters was written by Max Borenstein, one of four writers HBO retained to develop ideas for Game of Thrones spinoffs. And now he’s working with a decorated Game of Thrones alum. We’re not saying that means anything, but it definitely means everything.
