HBO announces official Game of Thrones Reddit gift exchange

If the forthcoming season 7 wasn’t gift enough, HBO has set up a Gift Exchange for Game of Thrones fans on Reddit. For those unfamiliar with the process, Reddit Gift Exchanges work like an online Secret Santa marketplace. Fans sign up for the exchange, and on a specific date, a random partner is chosen for you. You are then tasked with mailing that person a gift, in this case something Game of Thrones-related.
Fans have until June 26 to sign up for this particular exchange. They’ll then have until July 19 to mail their gift out (and upload their shipping receipt). Gift-givers are encouraged to send gifts of around $20 in value, and to post photos upon receipt to share with the community. Of course, not everyone follows the rules, like the time Bill Gates participated. (Should either Daivd Benioff or Dan Weiss get me, I’ll take a full scale replica of the Iron Throne, please.) The whole point of the exchange is to spread some Game of Thrones related joy, so get creative if you participate!
Speaking of gifts, Carice Van Houten (Melisandre) has given her Game of Thrones season 7 sports bag to a Dutch film initiative dubbed The Buddy Film Project, and now they’re auctioning it off through website Sale4Charity!
This bag was specially made for the cast and crew members of Game of Thrones season 7. It’s black and has a Game of Thrones logo on the front, plus a zipper on the back. This particular bag has a note from van Houten herself.
All funds from the auction will go to help The Buddy Film Project “make a movie with refugee filmmakers” out in 2018. You have to enter your bid in euros, so this may not work for everyone.
