Thronecast returns early ahead of Game of Thrones season 7
By Dan Selcke
Last year, HBO tried to mount a Game of Thrones aftershow called, appropriately, After the Thrones. It received a lukewarm reception, and won’t be returning to HBO for season 7. (It’ll still be on Twitter, though.) But in the UK, Sky Atlantic has had a successful Game of Thrones aftershow running since the beginning: Thronecast, currently hosted by comedian Sue Perkins.
Thronecast will be back for season 7. Actually, it’s kicking things off a little early with a season preview episode on Wednesday, July 12 at 9:00 pm (with a repeat on July 17 right before the UK premiere of season 7 Episode 1). Check out the trailer.
As you can see, Perkins and the Thronecast crew have put together a pretty wicked Game of Thrones-themed set, complete with “appropriately with house flags, a fire pit, and a huge handmade table in the shape of Westeros.” It’s the show’s War Room, and you figure it’s gotta make discussions of Daenerys’ military maneuvers feel more pertinent.
Perkins will be joined by celebrity superfans Al Murray, Lauren Laverne and Jonathan Ross to break down anything and everything about the upcoming season. “Who do they think are the main players as the Great War looms on the horizon? What are their predictions for the new series? And who do they think will be left standing in the battle for Westeros?” Questions to obsess over.

In the past, Thronecast has had on cast members from the show, so expect them to turn up once the season starts rolling. Not long now, friends.
