1. Sansa’s (Second) Wedding Gown

The most stunning look of the season didn’t belong to Margaery—it belonged to that other wedding, the one up North, which a few people halfheartedly attempted to nickname “The Black Wedding.” Amusingly enough, it was a bit like watching Sansa take a page from Margaery’s second wedding. While Sansa married Tyrion in a gown that spoke volumes about how she was being tied to House Lannister, here she wore a gown that speaks of how much she intends to remain true to herself and to House Stark despite marrying into House Bolton. The silhouette is that of the Northern woman. She wears white wolf’s fur at the shoulder, like her father and brothers once did. The buttons of her gown are fish, a direct reference to her mother and House Tully. In the night’s dark, lit only by torches in front of the Heart Tree, Sansa’s look was the one of the few moments of beauty the series allowed.

But unlike Margaery, who was saved from a undoubtedly awful wedding night with Joffrey by a well-timed poisoning, Sansa’s most beautiful moment was followed by the lesson that the words she thought protected her and her sense of self were only wind.
