WiC is looking for contributors!

Game of Thrones Season 5 is over, and the long night of the off-season has begun. In the meantime, WiC is looking for a few contributors to suss out promising stories, provide editorial content, and generally keep WiC humming. Here are some things we’re looking for:

  • People who enjoy Game of Thrones and/or A Song of Ice and Fire. This one should be pretty easy.
  • Solid writing ability. You don’t have to be a professional writer or have a degree in English Lit or anything, but know how to string a sentence together.
  • Ability to plumb the internet for interesting stories. For example, we know that the show will be doing a fair amount of shooting in Spain this year, so any Spanish speakers willing to peruse selected Spanish-language websites would be welcome. Or maybe you like to follow the many Game of Thrones-themed parodies and satiric videos that reliably pop up around the internet. Perhaps you’re more into long-winded editorial pieces, or maybe you’re more of a generalist. Let us know.
  • Capacity to write stories, or pass info along so another another writer can get on them, fairly quickly. Getting great Game of Thrones-related stories up on the site is a good thing. Getting time-sensitive stories up as fast as possible is better still.

Also, anyone interested in social media is encouraged to apply. We here at WiC are hip to the technologies the kids use today, with their Twitter and Instagram and Tumblr and so forth. We have quite a few accounts, but don’t utilize some of them as well as we could. Social media mavens are welcome.

If you’re interested in this opportunity, please get back to me at dan.selcke@winteriscoming.net with a brief word about yourself and your familiarity with Game of Thrones—you can include that in the body of the email. If you’re interested in writing, a writing sample of some kind would be great (links are okay), and if you’re interested in social media, a link to some account you maintain would be appreciated. Feel free to include a resume if you want to go the extra mile.

These are currently volunteer positions, so for the moment you’ll have to be satisfied with our sparkling company and the fact that your work will be seen by a great many people. That could change down the line, and there’s always the possibility that any work you do here could lead to a paid position elsewhere on the Fansided network. That’s what happened to me, anyway. Thanks for reading and I hope to hear from you!
