Game of Thrones Cast Teases Season 6
By Ani Bundel
It was the subject that was conspicuously absent at the SDCC 2015 Game of Thrones panel this year—any and all talk of Season 6. Other than a few nervous giggles over whether Kit Harington would return and nodding at the audience that all of them were very nervous for their characters, since no one knows what will happen next season, there was zero talk of the upcoming season on stage.
Off stage was a slightly different story. The cast might not have been willing to admit it Friday afternoon, but the Season 6 scripts have started arriving at their doorsteps. Making Game of Thrones asked them for one more reaction to what they had read so far.
Conleth Hill, who plays Varys: “Amazing.”
Alfie Allen, who we maybe can go back to calling Theon after the events of last season’s finale, called it “Unpredictable.”
John Bradley, who plays Sam, couldn’t stick to one word. “Rich. Bursting with ideas. Game of Thrones has always been bursting with tiny details, and the first few scripts we’ve received are absolutely following that trend.”
Natalie Dormer (Margaery) admitted she’s had the scripts since Thursday—the problem is between all the SDCC 2015 events (remember, she was not just there for Game of Thrones, but also the final installment of The Hunger Games) she hasn’t had time to crack them open and start reading. She did say she was looking forward to powering through them as her inflight reading on the way home.
Maisie Williams (Arya) also got hers prior to the panel, but refused to crack them open lest she give away spoilers on Friday afternoon. An understandable choice. It’s easier to keep insisting Jon Snow is dead if you don’t know otherwise.
Hannah Murray and Carice Van Houten weren’t one of the lucky ones—both said the scripts hadn’t reached them yet.
