Thanks to our friends at sibling site Netflix Life, we now know the Twelfth Doctor’s first season will hit Hulu’s subscription service on August 8, 2015. (Just to clarify, Hulu’s subscription service used to be called Hulu Plus, but they recently dropped the “Plus” in order to simplify things — I’d say it had the opposite effect).
Hulu will be the first major US streaming service to score the eighth series. Amazon Prime dropped Doctor Who and other BBC shows earlier this year, and Netflix has yet to announce when they’ll add the highly-requested new series — though we should be receiving the August Netflix schedule any day now, and it’s highly likely that Doctor Who Series 8 will be listed.

Interestingly, Hulu is actually the most comprehensive source for Doctor Who streaming. Besides the seven (soon to be eight) series of the revived Doctor Who, they have a vast library of classic Doctor Who episodes, all of the recent minisodes, several documentary specials, plus Torchwood, The Sarah Jane Adventures, and the single-episode spin-off K9 and Company.
Doctor Who Series 8 premiered on August 23, 2014 with Peter Capaldi’s first full episode, ‘Deep Breath,’ after the Doctor’s regeneration in the 2013 Christmas special, ‘The Time of the Doctor.’ The finale, ‘Death in Heaven’ aired on November 8, 2014, followed by ‘Last Christmas’ on Christmas Day. It’s expected that all 13 episodes (12 regular stories plus the Christmas special) will be available to stream when Series 8 hits Hulu on August 8.
Don’t forget: Doctor Who Series 9 premieres September 19 on BBC One and BBC America. For full details, check out our comprehensive guide, ‘Doctor Who Series 9: Everything There is to Know So Far.’
