Gold will be their crowns and gold will be their shrouds.Was there ever a pawn more helplessly played than Myrcella Baratheon? Was there ever a pawn more cruelly captured than she? Sansa might have been a pawn when she arrived at King’s Landing, but at least she was quick enough to understand there was a game being played, even if she had no idea how much she was being used in it. Myrcella didn’t even seem to be aware she was standing on the board.
Part of this was due to sending her away to grow up for three years in the Water Gardens, where games are not being played the way air is breathed. In fact, she lived an idyllic life. She had a star-crossed romance with a handsome prince and opened her mind to the point where she was even okay with her parents’ incest. She would have been eaten alive had she made it back to the capital in one piece. Perhaps it was a kindness she did not.
