Alfie Allen (Theon) Filming Near Ballintoy Harbour (Iron Islands) This Week

Yesterday, we had reports that Alfie Allen was filming in Ballintoy Habor, which stands in for the Iron Islands. (Well, to be fair, the reports called him “Lily Allen’s brother,” but considering her video was his first claim to fame, that’s not totally unexpected.) We were uncertain about them, since the current plots don’t seem to line up in such a way that Theon would be present on Pyke at this time. But according to Allen’s Instagram, he’s not far off. Apparently he has a beautiful view too.

Though the view looks like it could be Ballintoy, it’s actually a harbor about ten minutes away, according to Irish Thrones.

This lines up with what we heard about Game of Thrones using other harbors in addition to Ballintoy. We’ve already seen Maisie Williams filming in nearby Carnlough, which is standing in for Braavos. Allen could be filming at another harbor that’s standing in for one in Westeros. Yesterday, it looked like the crew was filming the Kingsmoot, a scene from A Feast for Crows where the Iron Islanders choose a new leader. However, we don’t know if Alfie Allen (Theon was there, and unless the show is going to shift and speed up his timeline dramatically, I can’t see how he could be.

Another option is that he is filming scenes in Ballintoy, but they’re not the scenes the production was filming yesterday. Perhaps Theon arrives on the Islands later in the seaeson.

Speaking of the Kingsmoot, we’ve got not just far shots from yesterday’s filming, but close up ones too!

I can see why she thinks they are wildings. The colors of the outfits and the cloaks actually do look like the sorts of outfits we see the folks north of the Wall sport. And there do seem to be at least a couple of gingers from this distance. But if you look at the outfits the they’re wearing, you can see that they match what we’ve seen Balon and Asha in previously, which indicates that they’re probably Iron Islanders.

So odds are that scene has something to do with the Kingsmoot. If they’re filming near a rope bridge, we can also assume that we’ll finally see the end of the last of the Five Kings, Balon Greyjoy.
