With less than two weeks to go until the September 19 premiere of Doctor Who Series 9, details are starting to come in left and right. Today we have the first official information from the BBC regarding the second episode, ‘The Witch’s Familiar.’

More from Doctor Who

Scheduled to air on September 26, ‘The Witch’s Familiar’ is the second part of a two-part opening story, beginning with the premiere episode, ‘The Magician’s Apprentice.’ Straight from the BBC Doctor Who blog, here’s the newly released synopsis:

"Trapped and alone in a terrifying Dalek city, the Doctor is at the heart of an evil Empire; no sonic, no TARDIS, nobody to help. With his greatest temptation before him, can the Doctor resist? And will there be mercy?"

Interesting. What could be the Doctor’s “greatest temptation”? Could it be (SPOILERS!) the rumored opportunity to kill Davros as a child before he can grow up and create the Daleks?

In case you missed it, here’s the synopsis released last week for the Series 9 premiere, ‘The Magician’s Apprentice’:

"Where is the Doctor? When the skies of Earth are frozen by a mysterious alien force, Clara needs her friend. But where is the Doctor, and what is he hiding from?As past deeds come back to haunt him, old enemies will come face-to-face, and for the Doctor and Clara survival seems impossible."

And here’s the trailer for the same episode (featuring a small child — Davros anyone?):
