Doctor Who: New BBC America Series 9 Trailer & Details [VIDEO]

Doctor Who may be a BBC production, but it’s their stateside equivalent making waves today, as BBC America has announced a new Series 9 trailer (with new footage), prequel broadcast plans, and a special New York screening.

First up, here’s the new trailer released today:

Good stuff. I’m digging Clara‘s “this is how we roll” line, though I’m already tired of the “I’m the Doctor and I save people” mantra.

In addition, Blogtor Who reports that prior to the September 19 premiere of ‘The Magician’s Apprentice,’ BBC America will air a four-day marathon of nothing but Doctor Who! Here’s the best part, though — at 10:00 PM (EST) on September 18, they will air the Series 9 prequel minisode, ‘The Doctor’s Meditation’! Previously, the prequel had only been announced to show during the Doctor Who 3D: Dark Water/Death in Heaven theatrical event on September 15/16 (though we all knew it would likely be released on YouTube at some point).

Also of interest, as part of their “Doctor Who Takeover,” on Sunday, September 20, BBC America will show the classic Fourth Doctor serial, ‘Genesis of the Daleks.’ Could this lend further credence to the rumor that you-know-who will appear in the Series 9 premiere?

And finally, BBC America has also announced a special theatrical screening of ‘The Magician’s Apprentice’ with Michelle Gomez! Tickets are exclusively available through a sweepstakes on the BBC America website — but hurry, you only have until midnight tonight to enter! No transportation is provided, so you’ll have be able to make it to New York on September 17th if you’re lucky enough to win.
