Liam Cunningham on Jon Snow, Kit Harington spotted in Belfast (UPDATE: SPOILER TOWN!)

As you may be dimly aware, Jon Snow is currently existing in a nebulous state between alive and dead, having been killed in last year’s season finale presumably so he can be resurrected come Game of Thrones Season 6, although that’s still not guaranteed. Various cast members have weighed in on this side or that side of the is-Jon-Snow-dead debate, with Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth) recently coming down on the “He’s dead, people” side.

“People seem to think he’s alive somehow,” Cunningham said in a recent interview. “Where the hell is that coming from? How dead do you have to be?”

Cunningham also talked a little about how his career opportunities have improved since getting cast on Game of Thrones, and while we’re happy for him, the Jon Snow tidbit is what we’re here for. Interestingly, his comments coincide with a new wave of Kit Harington sightings in Belfast, Northern Ireland, a city where the show does a lot of production work. At one point, it seemed like a day couldn’t go by without a new picture of Harington walking around the city, but that eventually gave way to pics of the actor in London, suggesting that Harington may have visited Belfast just to film Jon Snow’s funeral scene before leaving.

Since then, there have been reports that Kit Harington has returned to the city, although it seems like he’s taking more care not to be spotted this time. This recent tweet, for example, didn’t have visual confirmation, although I respect the colorful description of headware.

And today, another photo of Harington turned up on Twitter.

Admittedly, it’s a little hard to confirm if one of the guys pictured here really is Harington, although we note that the one second-from-the-left is indeed wearing a “jaunty wee flat cap” of the kind Harington has been known to wear from time to time. If Harington really has returned, he’ll have spent quite a lot of time in the city, and it’ll be much harder for members of the “He’s dead” brigade to argue he’s just in town to film the funeral.

We’ll be on the lookout for any more info that may trickle out of Belfast. If Harington really is there and making an effort to lay low, it may be a bit harder, but it’s nothing the famously tenacious Game of Thrones fandom can’t overcome.

UPDATE: MAJOR JON SNOW SPOILERS RUMORED

UPDATE: There more Jon Snow news coming in from fan site Watchers on the Wall. According to its sources, Kit Harington has been spotted around Saintfield, a village in Northern Ireland. A couple days ago, we reported that the production was laying down fake snow in a field near the village, and that it was crawling with horses and extras. According to the sources at Watchers, the production is shooting a big battle scene in the area, a battle that will include Umbers, Boltons, wildlings, and more. Purportedly, the battle will feature in Episode 9 of Season 5, long reserved for Big Important Things.

And here’s another Big Important Thing: according to Watchers’ sources, Kit Harington is on the set! Obviously, this has huge implications for Season 6, and we’ll be on the lookout for more.
