Game of Thrones’ next on site filming location is the Desert of the Bardenas, located in the province of Navarra. Unlike the three-week run in Girona, the Navarra shooting schedule is a relatively modest five day stint set for next week. But that doesn’t mean that preparations aren’t underway. According to the Diaro De Navarra, the pre-production team has already headed to the area. It’s currently operating out of the town of Valtierra, from the large sports center.
The first wave of extras have received their phone calls to come in for wardrobe. The scenes in Navarra are filled with extras, with twice as many men as women. You might think that’s in order to fill out the new khalasar Dany will be traveling with. But rumor has it that the gender disparity is due to the fact that the area will also be shooting scenes with the Unsullied Army. Does that mean we’ll be seeing a fight between the Dothraki and the Unsullied? Will Dany bring the two very different styles of armies together as one big fighting force, lead by her on dragon back?
Will they finally cross the Narrow Sea?
Speaking of the Dothraki, it’s been a while since we checked in with the final location in Spain where filming will be taking place for the bulk of October: Almería. Los Siete Reinos has a couple of new pictures from that same set building location, where the large round building has been going up over the last few weeks. It’s nearly done, and at this point it’s undeniably a Dothraki encampment.
With two weeks slated in Almeria, it looks like we’ll be spending quite a bit of time in various desert locations with Dany and her new Dothraki horde. Let’s hope going back to her roots and getting out of Meereen will do wonders for her plot line, and perhaps a few of her decisions.
