Netflix has unveiled the first publicity images from their upcoming series, Marvel’s Jessica Jones, including our first official look at former Doctor Who star David Tennant as the villainous Kilgrave.

More from Doctor Who

Jessica Jones stars Krysten Ritter as a former superhero-turned-private eye, and is part of the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe that includes The Avengers, Ant-Man, and the Guardians of the Galaxy. More importantly though, it shares the same Hell’s Kitchen location as Marvel’s Daredevil and will include familiar characters and locations from that series.

David Tennant co-stars as Kilgrave (AKA Purple Man), a character from Jessica’s past with psychic powers and a sadistic nature. Other co-stars include Rachel Taylor as Jessica’s best friend Trish Walker, The Matrix trilogy’s Carrie-Ann Moss as Jessica’s mentor Harper, and Mike Colter as fellow Marvel superhero Luke Cage (who will be starring in his own series next year).

Tennant will join a growing number of Doctor Who actors who’ve made their way to Marvel, including Christopher Eccleston (Thor: The Dark World), Karen Gillan (Guardians of the Galaxy), and Jenna Coleman (Captain America: The First Avenger).

Without further ado, here’s your first look at Tennant and the rest of the Jessica Jones cast:

Daredevil was one of my favorite shows in years, so I’m looking forward to more adventures in that dark corner of the MCU, not to mention the chance to see David Tennant pulling out all the stops as one of the most vile characters in the Marvel catalog.
