Character Options, the company behind numerous Doctor Who toys and collectibles over the last decade, made a big announcement this morning: they’re launching two new highly collectible, online exclusive 5.5″ Missy action figures.
The figures come in two variants: one is wearing the familiar purple outfit and hat from the Series 8 finale, ‘Dark Water’/’Death in Heaven,’ and the other is in her black “Heaven” outfit and sports a maniacal grin. Both figures feature 18 points of articulation, come with several accessories, and have swappable heads (so you can get that evil grin on either figure). They also come in new bespoke UK Collector Series packs that are resealable for the first time, so you can remove and replace the figures for display without damaging their collectability.
Each figure is limited to only 4,000 units and can be pre-ordered now at www.character-online.co.uk for £19.99 (excluding P&P).
The announcement was made via video from Character Options’ Product Development Director Alasdair Dewar:
Dewar also released a statement regarding the new figures:
“Character Options has been designing, manufacturing and marketing Doctor Who toys since 2005, so as true fans of the brand we wanted to tell collectors the latest news in the most direct, if informal way, which is why I made the announcement in person on the website. Missy is the first of a potential new line of highly sought after 5.5-inch action figures so we expect interest to be high and we are all very excited to share this with fans and collectors alike.
“Working with Michelle Gomez was great fun and she was the best subject we ever 3D scanned, patiently holding her facial expressions including her trademark Missy ‘sneer’ for long periods of time. We know that many collectors have been eagerly waiting to see if Missy would at some point be included within our figure range, and at last, here she is.”
Very cool news for Doctor Who collectors, especially the new resealable packaging. It’s also exciting to know this is potentially just the first in a whole new line of 5.5″ figures.
