More casting news is coming in from Deadline: the website has it that Joe Naufahu, an actor known for his recurring roles on Spartacus: War of the Damned and Go Girls, will have a “multi-episode arc” on Game of Thrones Season 6. With his coloring and physique, odds are good that Naufahu will play a member of the Dothraki, probably a warrior in the khalasar that picked Daenerys up at the end of Season 5.

Ah, but which Dothraki warrior will he play? There are a couple of roles from the Season 6 casting calls that might fit the bill.

  • Qhogo and Akrat: HBO was looking to cast performers of mixed ethnicity in these roles. Qhogo and Akrat are tall, confident young warriors who speak a fictional language. In short, these characters are almost definitely Dothraki, and it would be easy to imagine Naufahu playing either one.
  • Fierce Warrior: He’s a tall man in his 30s or 40s with a powerful physique. Again, HBO wanted someone with a mixed ethnicity, and again, everything about this screams “Dothraki.” This could be describing Khal Jhaqo, the leader of the khalasar Dany meets at the end of A Dance with Dragons. My bet is that Naufahu will play this part, since the bit about him having a “multi-episode arc” makes it sound like an important role, whereas Qhogo and Akrat sound like rank-and-file members of the khalasar.

Scenes with the Dothraki are expected to be filmed in Almería from October 10-23. Odds are we’ll see Naufahu in action then.
